The Oral Healh Career Awareness Program (OHCAP) is intended for high school students who wish to pursue a careers in the oral healthcare field. This field includes dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental lab technicians.
Students participating in OHCAP will be exposed to the following activities:
- Hands-on Development of Dental Skills
- Dissection Labs
- Nutrition and Oral Health
- Exposure to Careers in Oral Health
- College Access
- Mentor Program
- Job Shadowing
- Service Learning Project
- And Much More!
There are currently two schools in Southeast Missouri participating in OHCAP. Those schools are the Sikeston Career & Technology Center and South Pemiscot County High School. For more information about OHCAP, please contact Jessie Polk at SEMO AHEC.
OHCAP is presented by the Southeastern Missouri Area Health Education Center, the Sikeston Career & Technology Center, and South Pemiscot County High School. Funding for this project is provided by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
