OHCAP and ACES students volunteered their time to help facilitate Sikeston High School’s Teacher Wellness Day that was held on Friday, January 16, 2015. Over 60 teachers made their way through various health care booths during the three hour event. Alicia King, 3rd Year DO student at KCOM, spoke to teachers and students about Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, also known as OMM. With the assistance of a few willing volunteers, she demonstrated several OMM techniques to relieve minor aches and pains. Also in attendance was Lisa Kelley, RDH, and her dental hygiene students from Missouri Southern State University’s Dental Hygiene program in Sikeston. The dental hygiene students performed oral cancer screenings on teachers, OHCAP/ACES students, and nursing students. OHCAP/ACES students also educated attendees on the importance of proper oral health care with their own booth.
A very special thank you goes out to Mrs. Gloria Houston for all her hard work in putting together this amazing event!
